Car Care Tips

It's fall! This is a time when lots of people think of getting their vehicle ready for winter. Quess what? It's slightly late for that. You should have been doing that in August. But since no one can change the habits of the general public here is a fall car care tip that could save you the hassle of a car not starting just when you need to be at work 10 min. ago.
Clean your battery cable connection to the battery. So simple, but if not done, the change of seasons and the weather and moisture that comes with it, could easily surface bad connections at the battery.
Take the connections completely off the battery. Clean as much of the corrosion off with a wire brush(I use a vacuum cleaner so that I don't breath in the corrosion dust). Then soak the terminals in a solution of backing soda and water for about 1/2 hour to remove all corrosion that the wire brush could not get. Wire brush the battery posts and the cable terminals before putting them back on. After they are secured tightly, coat the connections with vaseline.(best battery post protector I've found) I know, its messy, but it keeps the corrosion off better than anything I've used.
Just a last note. Pouring Coke on the connections might help in the short term, but eventually a thin film will develope between the terminal and the post and you will be back to square one.
Take the time to clean them right and you will be blessed!
